* Will you let me know if I have missed something or left something out of my
application? NO. You are responsible for a complete and accurate
application. Omissions of vital portions will disqualify you. If answers to
questions are incomplete it may reduce your score.
* Will I hear whether I am chosen to receive a scholarship or
not? Yes. All applicants are notified of their final standing.
* How much is your scholarship worth? The George A. Zeiss
Memorial Scholarships are worth $1,000.
* How are winners selected? The members of the Board of
Trustees review and score all applications. There are seven Trustees involved in the scoring
process. The ratings are weighted in the following order for the Zeiss
Scholarships: financial need, scholastic achievement, leadership and community involvement, and
employment.
* Can I apply only one time? No, you may apply each year you
are eligible as an undergraduate student. Applications must be requested each year.
They are not automatically mailed to previous applicants.
* What happens to funds awarded in excess of my tuition cost? Once
the academic year is completed, all scholarship funds not expended are returned to the
Foundation.
To be considered for a scholarship grant this application and
necessary enclosures must be returned to the Foundation
postmarked no later than the specified date. Failure to
do so will result in rejection of your application.
Faxed submissions are not acceptable. Applicants will not receive notification of missing
or incomplete information. It is incumbent upon the
applicant to ensure all requirements are completed. Use the checklist provided on the last page of the application to facilitate the
completion of the package. All students will receive
notification of their status after the Trustees complete their review by the end of
May.
